From Material to Adhesive: Celebrating Christmas - YCDECK continuous innovation

Christmas is a time for celebration and new beginnings, and YCDECK wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and all the best. Throughout this year, we have been continuously researching, testing, and improving our products to provide the highest quality EVA foam boat decking, and we have now achieved significant results.

Upgrading of EVA foam

Currently, most EVA marine decking on the market has a hardness of 50-55 Shore C, with better quality products reaching only 55-60 Shore C. However, YCDECK has increased its hardness to 65±3 Shore C this year.

65±3 Shore C

So, is higher hardness always better for EVA marine decking? And wouldn't a softer material be more comfortable? I will answer these questions and explain why YCDECK is a high-quality product.

Firstly, for EVA boat flooring, it's not a case of "the harder the better," but rather "the more appropriate the hardness, the better." In most marine applications, a higher hardness (typically 60-70 Shore C) is indeed superior to softer materials, which is why the industry often says "choose a harder one." EVA boat flooring that is too soft will lead to: noticeable indentation when stepped on, pressure marks after prolonged use, slower rebound, and visual deformation of the flooring, affecting its overall quality. Furthermore, overly soft materials will have their textures flattened under pressure, reducing their anti-slip properties. At the same time, soft materials will melt and deform when exposed to strong sunlight for extended periods. Conversely, EVA boat flooring that is too hard (greater than 70 Shore C) will result in poor foot feel, reduced comfort, and decreased impact resistance.

YCDECK's boat flooring hardness (65±3 Shore C) greatly improves user safety and product durability while maintaining comfort. After undergoing a 3000-hour UV resistance test in an SGS laboratory, YCDECK mats remained intact no fading, no peeling, and no damage whatsoever.

Improvements in adhesive formulations

While improving the hardness of our EVA foam flooring, we also upgraded and developed its adhesive backing. After all, the higher the hardness of the EVA foam flooring, the higher the requirements for the adhesive. Therefore, YCDECK has developed a powerful adhesive YC95+. Unlike conventional adhesives on the market, our YC95+ is specifically designed for the closed-cell, waterproof properties of EVA material. The adhesive quickly penetrates the EVA material, creating a stronger bond. Under the same high-temperature test conditions, 3M9775wl+ only achieves a grip strength of 3800G, while our YC95+ achieves a grip strength of 6000g.

Upgrading of EVA foam

For our distributors and OEM partners, this innovation will bring tangible benefits:

Superior Quality: You can now offer the superior feel and durability of high-hardness EVA material without worrying about adhesive failure your brand reputation will be protected.

Reduced Rework: Stronger adhesion means fewer warranty claims and installation problems related to delamination.

Competitive Advantage: Possessing a technically superior and quantifiable advantage allows you to command higher value and win more challenging projects.

Finally, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and even greater success in the new year. I believe, and I hope you all believe too, that YCDECK will only get better and better. We will continue to innovate and provide our customers with the best EVA marine flooring.
